2009 - Messages from soldiers
Dear Ms. Carter,
I would like to thank you and the Airborne Angel Cadets of Texas for your kindness and generosity. We received the care packages you sent us and were overwhelmed by the outpouring of support from your organization. The Soldiers of the 115th Combat Support Hospital greatly appreciate the time and effort it took to prepare and send the items we received and they are very grateful. You are all great Americans. Thank you so much.
Serving with pride,

Nancy,
I'm pretty slow at this but never forgotten. I and the other 19 Soldiers here with the 363d Quartermaster battalion in Baghdad are so grateful for the boxes you and the other awesome volunteers packed and mailed with love and support to us.
We've been so blessed and touched by your support and concern. Those extra sheets hit the spot (I took the Nascar ones. thought I might get made too much fun of if I used the leopard skin ones). The letters from the kids are one of the favorites. I'm pretty sure some of our guys have written back to the kids who gave addresses.
Thanks for the blessing you've given us and the taste of home we're all missing.

Nancy,
Hi I'm one of the soldiers from 363rd Det 3. I wanted to personally thank you for all you've done to keep us happy and our minds distracted from the time away from our loved ones. Julie just told us all about the packing party and I can't be the only one excited about all the fun stuff coming this way! You guys are awesome! It sounds like quite the operation and I can't imagine you get enough thank yous, and even if you do... there's no such thing as too many! I've found it's been a lot better here this time around as far as time passing and not missing home as much,
You are really making the day of a lot of soldiers out here, myself especially. Some of these guys have family and boyfriends, girlfriends... whatever, but for those of us that came out here basically flying blind with nobody back home except a couple family members with too much on their plate without me being on it... you are really keeping my spirits up! The granola bars were a brilliant idea! I work long ass hours at the office so it's nice to not have to get up for breakfast and lose more sleep when I can grab a granola bar with my coffee in the morning. It's a real life saver! Thanks again and I hope this finds you well! Take care and I hope to talk to you again soon!

I wanted to tell you how you and the Angels brightened our Valentines! You Angels are amazing. It was so much fun going through the boxes.
Everyone kept saying how it felt like Christmas again and there were just so many wonderful things. Someone even sent a magazine with the STEELERS on the cover. I know the Angels probably love them Cowboys, but I will never hold that against them. :)
We truly had a blast. I attached some pictures of the set up before all the Soldiers came in. They really enjoyed it.

I just wanted to say thank you for the huge box of girl scout cookies we received and the calling cards. We solicited our junior folks to see who was most deserving and we found five of our young guys and gave the cards to them. They were overwhelmed when those were given to them and we ensure your names were used for the people that provided them for us. I was also in Afghanistan a few months ago and received some cards from you then as well.. Really appreciate all the help you are providing for us over here.
It is an awesome feeling when you get supported by fellow Americans that truly are behind what we are doing over here. This is a job like any other but the amount of hours we put in on a daily basis and the amount of time we spend from home each year, it is extremely humbling to get something like these packages from you all. Appreciate your time and effort in getting these to us. I plan on going online to your website upon our return and contributing as well, as I did when I returned from Afghanistan, I didn't contribute to all the charities but as many as I could at the time. I will definitely ensure you all are on the next list I have when I contribute. If you could keep us informed of the fund raising drives you have I will be sure to get the information out among those I come into contact with. God
Bless and again, thank you for your generosity, time, good words, and a taste of home.
Sincerely
Mark H.

Good Afternoon ladies and Gents,
Thank you all for the warm thoughts and yummy cookies. It was Awsome getting your package today. We all enjoyed them. Thank you Again, you all are amazing!
Thank you from all of Us over here in Iraq
-------
Nancy,
I have received your box of Girl Scout cookies and other stuff here in the Middle East. I work in a facilities maintenance and construction section with several different types of engineers. I distributed the cookies throughout the section. The guys LOVE those cookies. Anyhow, I wish I had a camera to show you all these grown men operating heavy equipment while snacking on Girl Scout cookies and
throwing the water balloons at each other. I am sure the cookies will be empty very soon.
I just wanted to take the time to tell you how much we (Directorate of Public Works) appreciate your contribution. It is a real breath of fresh air to receive stuff like this from caring Americans in support of the troops. We thank you for all of your thoughts and prayers and will continue to try our best to make everyone at home proud to be an American.
Respectfully, SGT Michael H.

Dear ACT, I received your care package today, thank you so much. The Soldiers and myself really appreciate all the support we can get. It touches all of us to know that people we have never met, care so much! There are a few of my Soldiers from Texas, and I myself was stationed at Fort Hood for two years. Again, thank you for all your support!

On behalf of the Consolidated Legal Center at Joint Base Balad, thanks for the great box with boxes of Girl Scout cookies, phone cards and other items. You really made our day. This box will be shared by our office of about 15 Army and 2 Air Force members.
Again. Thank you very much.

Cadets -
I always like to try and take the time to say thank you. It is a welcome sight to receive packages from home - no matter who or where they are from. Although we LOVE Girl Scout cookies, it always makes the Iraqi children smile to give them some(we eat them too). We like to tell the children who they are from and any Girl Scout parents out there can tell their scouts what a difference they are making with these children over here. I want you to know that you do not only make *us* happy, you make others happy, as well. Thank you again. We love all that you do for us!!!
Respect,

Airborne Angel Cadets of Texas,
My Soldiers and I received the package of goodies you sent. We greatly appreciate your time and donations. I am a Platoon Sergeant in C Co, 112th Signal Battalion. We are out of Fort Bragg, NC. I distributed the cookies out to my teams, and they loved them. I have to make sure they do extra running when they get goodies in the mail!!!
Please relay our thanks to all who contribute to your cause,

Dear Airborne Angel Cadets,
I am the battalion adjutant for the 303rd Military Intelligence battalion. We just received the care package filled with Girl Scott cookies and other wonderful items. Myself and my fellow Soldiers want to thank you for the everything and the support your community has shown.
We want to let everyone who contributed know that we received your package and we all can't thank you enough! Not only do we appreciate the items, but the thoughts and prayers that come with it.
The Girl Scott cookies made our day and made us feel a little closer to home. It's folks like you that give us the drive and determination to win this war and, believe me, we are winning. We just want you to know how much we appreciate your care package and for just thinking of us. Again, thank you all so very much and may God bless you.
Respectfully,

Very Kind of you and the group. We are enjoying our Girl Scout Cookies. All flavors for all people's tastes.
You and the folks who took the time to put this together are thoughtful. You have brightened our spirits (does not take much) and provided smiles "all-around."
Today we conducted a HUGE Humanitarian Assistance drop in several remote villages of Northern Afghanistan. I brought along 3 boxes of cookies. When the children received them, saw that it was cookies - they danced. Really, they danced holding the boxes over their heads...It was great.
Best, Good bless you and the crew.

Dear Nancy and the rest of the folks at Airborne Angel Cadets,
I wanted to pass on our appreciation for the snacks, cards and other items that you sent to us. It was a wonderful treat and happened to arrive the day before Easter, which made it even more appreciated. We're very remote out here and it's sometimes easy to feel out of touch and alone.
Your wonderful generosity makes such a huge difference to us out here, because it's a tangible way to receive a "piece of home", that personal touch that says you care. By the way, because your box arrived at a hospital (where I work), we were able to share the cookies with many of our Afghani patients as well. Have a great Easter and Thanks again

My name is SSG V and i received a package from you and your Cadets about a week ago. I wanted to send my thanks to you all for your support and all those who supported you in such a noble act of kindness. We absolutely love Girl Scout Cookies! They were a hit. I passed out boxes to all the departments and to the wounded soldiers who were in our ICU at the time. Thank you and God Bless.

I was also wondering about things like hygiene products like baby wipes (biodegradable), body wash liquids, some type of medicated (foot and or body powders), toothpaste, shaving gels, detergents for washing clothes, etc... These r some of the things that r also needed and used a lot by soldiers (especially in the hot summer months to come).
u r really appreciated here and again for all the soldiers that r here, I thank u.

Thank you so much for your ministry (this is my 2nd rotation) and I know that ministries like yours send the right message to me and my soldiers: you're cared for and we are thinking of you back home. Again, my thanks for your generosity, the love you're displaying for our troops through your contributions and for all your support for what is being accomplished here
in Iraq and Afghanistan. God bless!

I am writing from a small FOB in Iraq. I found out about your organization through a friend who just arrived here. Our supplies here aren't very good. We have a small PX, but they only supply the basics like toothpaste, deoderant, shaving cream, and the like. There are no movies, music, electronic devices, or even junk food items we can buy here.
Everything is on a strictly cash basis here, finance comes once a month so soldiers can draw cash, and they are usually broke from buying cigarettes and toiletries long before the next visit from finance. I was wondering if it would be possible for you to send some movies, or music, board games, hand held electronic games like poker, checkers, or battleship or any kind of non perishable junk food that we could distribute to the soldiers here.
Another good idea is any kind of posters or pictures they could hang in their rooms. The soldiers here live in old buildings that have many holes and stains on the walls so it would be great to cover them with something. I am a cook and I work in the mess hall so it would be the perfect place to set up a distribution point to hand out whatever you may be able to send. Thank you for any assistance you may be able to provide, and if you can't then I still appreciate all you've done for our deployed troops.
Sincerely, SGT Jerry T

There are so many wonderful and needed items. As I expected, the coffee was a huge hit. We have a number of soldiers that especially like the dunkin donuts coffee. Thank you for sending that, you really made their day!
While my crew and I were opening the packages, our distant crew who is currently deployed to an outlying base arrived unexpectedly. They have been out "roughing it" for the past few days with little luxuries and were very excited to see the "cup o noodles" and other snacks we had set aside.
Needless to say that the items you sent will be well loved! Thank you again for sending these things. I appreciate all that you do for us and keeping us in your thoughts.
God Bless and have a great day!
